Nine Inch Nails Peel It Back Concert

This past Thursday, Feb. 5, 2026, I attended my first NIN concert after a lifetime of trying to do just that - see and experience Mr. Reznor live, and in person.

Without a doubt, this was the most intense, and most emotionally charged anything I have ever attended.  This was not a concert, and NIN is not a band.  Nine Inch Nails is a phenomenon, and the performance was a life experience.

What I found by attending the concert is that NIN is even more relevant, and more powerful, than it has ever been, and Mr. Reznor, today, represents the idea of NIN more effectively and more profoundly that he ever has in the past.

In a way, it makes me sad that it took this long to experience a NIN performance, but then, I fully understand that any past experience I might have had could not compare with what I bore witness to just a few nights ago. This man and his art, and his ability to deliver it, only improves with age. I think he has more than kept the spirit of NIN alive with this tour, and is a fact that was made painfully apparent to me by every fan there in attendance that night. In short, Trent Reznor is more NIN today than he ever has been.

And the one question that nags me is this:  does he look like the music he makes, or, does the music he makes sound like he looks?

Dunno.

Either way, NIN is a juggernaut that has brutally plowed its way through the conventions of not only music, but life itself, in a way that has never been done before, and will never be done again by anyone or anything.  And after having spent an evening amongst all the other die-hard, fanatical NIN fans there in attendance, I simply stand in awe of the shear power and effect this one man's art has on people.  For sure, it was the most emotionally intense, as well as draining, episode of life I have ever had. And trust me, I have had many.

Thank you, Mr. Reznor.
